Lip-Synchronization Voice IO Group

Welcome to the North Carolina State University's Voice IO Group. We would like to encourage you to look
at the progress of our research. Below are one of the two fields of research we are involved in.

Lip Synchronization Project:

One aspect of our research is the text free lip synchronization. It entails a fully automated system which collects and processes speech, generates predictor surfaces, calculates mouth parameters, and produces a synchronized QuickTime movie. The ultimate goal of this project is to take any speech, from any person, in any language, and animate a talking three dimensional face as if it were uttering the speech.

The principal application area of this research is in automatic animation. Secondary applications are in video conferencing and aid to the hearing disabled.
